Role & Responsibilities

The Opportunity

As a member of the Reagents R&D team you will work with the scientists and technicians to orgnaise, manage and maintain systems which help with the overall lab function. 

You will ensure the smooth running of the Reagents R&D Lab and manage resources to ensure all required materials and equipment are available and in working order. You will also be required to communicate between departments to make sure reagents requirements are met and appropriately resourced. 

The Role

  • Support a positive and engaging working environment and culture through role modelling LumiraDx values and behaviors
  • Manage and maintain systems/rotas to help with overall lab function, such as buffer preparation, stock management, cleaning and equipment maintenance
  • Communicate collaboratively with Scientists and Technicians within the group to ensure smooth running of the lab
  • Communicate with the pilot line and production lines regarding preparation and transfer of reagents from Reagents R&D in time for scheduled depositions, helping to plan deposition times to coordinate with available resource across multiple projects
  • Monitor fridge and freezer temperatures using tiny tag monitors and liaise with facilities/engineering to ensure proper monitoring of fridges and freezers
  • Be available as first responder for any out of hours issues with the labs, e.g. power supply interruption
  • Maintaining documentation associated with reagents materials, eg. COSHH, Material Specifications
  • Responsibility for equipment associated Quality Events and CAPAs
  • Maintain and update training and other associated records
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment
  • Organise and maintain service contracts and arrange maintenance visits for equipment
  • Manage stock within the lab to ensure materials are available when required and expired materials disposed of in a timely manner. This will involve liaising with stores to ensure timely ordering and delivery of materials
  • Maintain organization in the lab to ensure that materials are always appropriately stored and segregated to allow efficient location when required
  • Train scientists and technicians in the use of various pieces of lab equipment, including but not limited to balances, spectrophotometer, pH meter
  • Responsible for lab Health and Safety as a member of the H&S lab group. Involved in actioning issues from walk rounds
  • Adhere to GLP.
  • Maintain and update training
  • Compliance to H&S, biosafety, risks, COSHH, etc.
  • Raising, investigating and closing quality events to agreed timelines

Required Experience

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with high level of organisational skills, along with the following experience:

  • Ideally previous experience in a similar role with in a lab environment or alternatively previous experience in a lab based role
  • Experience working in a GMP/GLP lab
  • Experience in coordination of activities within groups of scientists and also collaboration between different departments
  • Good organisational skill
  • Computer literacy and familiar with Microsoft Office
