Role & Responsibilities

Molecular Field Application Scientist Manager - Remote based across US - this role requires extensive travel (75% +)

The Opportunity

The Field Application Scientist, Manager will have dual functionality by serving as an FAS lead and build & grow a talented team of Field Application Scientists in North America. You will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the utilization of LumiraDx Fast Lab Solutions.

This is a specialized role within the LumiraDx Fast Lab brand family. The individual will be a key member of a small team of Field Applications Scientists, responsible for providing pre- and post-sales reagent workflow development and technical support.

A strong background in molecular biology is needed, along with the ability to communicate technical information to varied scientific audiences. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, go getter and someone who can drive application development and support by working with customers, marketing, sales, R&D and product management.

The Role

  • As Field Application Scientist and Manager, you will be a critical liaison between LumiraDx Fast Lab and our customers, providing pre- and post-sale training and application support on our Fast Lab portfolio.
  • You will grow and lead a strategic team of Field Application scientists in North America.
  • Provide training on and assistance with data analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization for each of these technologies.
  • Work with sales, product management, R&D and key customers on product launches via beta testing support.
  • Provide post-sales implementation and troubleshooting support for customers in-person, via phone and email.
  • Provide post-sales implementation and troubleshooting support for customers in-person, via phone and email.
  • Provide second –tier support for sales and technical support by performing trainings such as train the trainer, seminars for internal and external customers.
  • Collect team feedback of ‘voice of the customer’ and provide product feedback to departments such as R&D, Marketing and Tech Support.
  • Provide cross-border/district/region support when required.
  • Assist in creation and review of technical literature and training resources.
  • Create and maintain customer support information using NetSuite.
  • Manage effective available time and resources.
  • Assist in the development of process and best practices in pre-and post-evaluations
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of reference customers.
  • Independently manage assigned territory to include travel and scheduling.
  • Travel as needed to tradeshows and workshops in support of commercial activities.
  • Increase FAS visibility to the organization by showcasing success stories and accomplishments.
  • Champion the practice of maintaining close relationships with FAS colleagues, with the intent to promoting collaboration, sharing of best practices, learning, and overall communication across the FAS team.

Required Experience

About You:

We are looking for a highly self-motivated individual with exceptional communication skills and high level of skills in problem solving and leadership, along with the following skills and experience:

  • BS in Medical Technology or another relevant discipline.
  • Previous experience of qPCR techniques, qPCR assay design and optimization mandatory.
  • Previous experience managing highly technical teams is a plus.
  • Extensive practical/lab experience, technical service or field applications experience within a relevant market sector.
  • Experience with and/or certified in regulatory environments such as CLIA.
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge and understanding of competitor products for all market segments.
  • Strong verbal (oral and written) and presentation skills required.
