The Product Owner shall act as the interface point between the Product Management/Commercial group and the development teams across the full product lifecycle encompassing hardware, software, operations, QA/regulatory, clinical and clinical assay development.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Gathering and management of product requirements and contribution to software, hardware, mechanical, electronic and clinical (assay) specifications
  • Developing and reviewing product requirements and product roadmaps
  • Managing the Product Backlog to create prioritized list(s) of product backlog items, basing the prioritisation on the defined product strategy and business objectives
  • Managing day to day development of the product development stages using methodologies such as Scrum
  • Work with the engineering and quality teams to support sprint planning, requirement definition and implementation validation to lead and manage part of a continual, iterative software development and release deliverable process
  • Work with Product Marketing and the Design team to validate product requirements, design and assumptions
  • Act as the main point of contact for the Product Development Scrum teams
  • Act as the point of contact between the development teams and product stakeholders
  • Become an expert in the product and help drive definition of client product needs
  • Key contributor to product increment planning and system demonstrations, incorporating feedback and input back into the product requirements and strategy
  • Working as part of the larger product team to ensure that products and releases are launched on schedule with maximum business value
  • Working alongside regulatory, QA, regulatory and clinical to ensure that requirements consider the risk impacts and help the product meet the regulatory obligations of a IVD
  • Working with the wider product management and development team to lead organisational change in the use of Agile, SAFe and SCRUM for programme and product development

Required Experience

Essential Skills:

  • Experience as a PO in a complex high-tech product that combines hardware and software through concept, feasibility, development, launch and post market
  • Product Owner expertise, within large-scale, complex, cross-functional product programs integrating hardware, software, and controls
  • Proven Experience of working as a Senior Product Owner in a regulated environment, managing and developing a team
  • Experience working across full product lifecycle in a regulated environment
  • Strong demonstrable understanding of SAFE, Agile and Scrum methodologies
  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-site, remote distributed cross-functional teams
  • Experience working with stakeholders to drive product roadmaps to meet strategic goals
  • Experience working with commercial and marketing teams to gather customer feedback and iteration of feedback into product requirements
  • Collaboration with Product Manager(s) to determine customer/business needs/desires
  • Proven Experience with building road maps for highly complex software products
  • Experience in the definition of product release and deployment strategies
  • Experience collaborating with UI/UX designers to develop designs and prototypes for new features
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge developing products in a medical device environment
  • Background in Software and Hardware development
  • Experience of formulating requirements using Gherkin, BDD/TDD
  • SAFE, Scrum and Agile certifications would be beneficial but not essential
  • Experience with online collaborative requirements management tools
  • Demonstrable experience in following a Continuous Improvement strategy in relation to process improvement
  • Experience in the use Jira and JAMA tools for requirements, test and planning
